If winter sports enthusiasts ask me where to go for a good party after a day's skiing, it is not a difficult question to answer. As far as I am concerned, Tyrol has the best après-ski places. In ski villages like Kirchberg in Tyrol, Kitzbühel, Gerlos, Mayrhofen, Westendorf and Sölden you will find many atmospheric bars. I would say, dive into a bar after skiing, sing your heart out and return to your holiday home feeling tired but satisfied. Taste the Tyrolean Gröstl!

If you are visiting Tyrol, it is inevitable that you will enjoy the traditional farmhouse cuisine. This is characterized by high quality wines and aromatic bacon. The most famous regional dish is the Tyrolean Gröstl. A simple dish with baked potatoes, bacon and a fried egg. This used to be made from fried leftovers for the catering staff. This very hearty lunch is often served in a frying pan in a mountain restaurant. A typical meal after which you can go enjoy the mountains full of energy. Tyrolean speckknödel or Tyrolean farmhouse bread are also classics of Tyrolean cuisine. Additionally, there are some special dishes that you can attribute to different regions, such as the Zillertaler Krapfen. These are delicious pastry pillows filled with potato and cheese. A real speciality of the Zillertal. For the sweet tooth, Apfelradln in a dough jacket is certainly recommended. These fried apple rings are often sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and served with "Preiselbeeren" or red berries.
