On an idyllic country road in Holten stands this wellness villa, surrounded by green fields and endless peace. Relax in the private wellness area with sauna and plunge pool, play a game of pool or enjoy the view on the covered terrace by the wood-burning stove or in the warm outdoor hot tub. Throw a ball on the boules court or enjoy long evenings at the table. Everything is taken care of down to the last detail, and here every moment feels like pure indulgence.
The area around Holten feels like a warm blanket of nature, tranquility, and connection. As soon as you park your car and take in the view over the meadows, you know that time ticks just a little slower here. From the property, you can walk or cycle straight into the countryside, where ancient oaks, farmyards, and narrow country lanes characterize the landscape.
An absolute must-visit is the Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park, where undulating heathlands and dense forests collectively form one of the most beautiful walking areas in the Netherlands. Here, you can truly hear the silence. In summer, the routes are ideal for an active day outdoors, while in winter, you can bundle up in a thick coat and warm scarf to enjoy the fresh air and then warm up by the outdoor fireplace on your own veranda.
The Holterberg is a stunning nature area in the Sallandse Heuvelrug where you can walk, cycle, or mountain bike endlessly through forests, heathlands, and rolling hills. For children, there is a challenging adventure playground, while nature lovers will delight in the Holterberg Nature Museum with its life-size dioramas. Along the way, you'll come across cozy terraces and might spot rare animals like the capercaillie, a unique experience in the Netherlands! Don’t forget to visit a special piece of “Canadian territory”: the Canadian War Cemetery in Holten. The community donated this land (officially part of Canada) to provide a final resting place for 1,394 fallen Allied soldiers (mostly Canadians) during the liberation of North and East Netherlands.
For families, there is plenty of entertainment nearby, such as the charming play farm Dondertman or Hellendoorn Adventure Park. Culture enthusiasts will be delighted by the historic center of Deventer, with its cozy shopping streets, bookstores, and coffee shops. Holten itself is also charming, with a village character and nice restaurants.
Whether you come for long walks, leisurely meals with views over the fields, or simply to do nothing in the comfortable lounge set: here, it’s all about space, tranquility, and genuine attention. This is the kind of place where you feel at home within a day, and that you really don’t want to leave.
