About this holiday home
A lovely flat in a beautifully quiet spot. The ground-floor flat is ideal for peace seekers and nature lovers. You are in the middle of the Drentse countryside, a good starting point for long walks or to enjoy the peace and quiet on the terrace. The flat is built against the house of the very friendly owners, so you stay on the same property as the owner, each with their own entrance. There is a large, natural garden, with a stork post

'Vrijzicht' is located at the edge of the village, with unobstructed views over the fields and meadows around. An extensive network of cycling and walking paths can be found in the surrounding area. Enjoy the beautiful natural areas Drenthe has to offer. Four kilometres south of the village is the Takkenhoogte, a beautiful heathland area on the northern flank of the Reest valley. A marked walking route of 4.5 kilometres runs through the area of the Takkenhoogte and the Meeuwenveen. The gardens of Mien Ruys are within cycling distance, as are the Priona gardens and those of the Lazy Gardener. Need something different for a day? Meppel and Hoogeveen are within easy reach, nice to visit. And at Tea Time in Echten, you can enjoy an extensive high tea!

Charging an e-car at the accommodation is not possible and not allowed. Should you nevertheless charge your car illegally, the house owner/manager may, without discussion, hold you responsible for any damage and charge a fine

There is a shared, locked garage where bicycles may be stored.
Tip from the homeowner
In our garden is a stork post, we have two resident storks every year in June/July/early August. You have a good view of them from the holiday home. During your stay with us, you can also visit the stork centre in De Wijk, the Lokkerij. As a walk to get your bearings, the Vlinderommetje is well known, a circular walk around the village of 7.5 or 10 kilometres, which leads you past the most beautiful spots (including over the Steenberg ash, one of our favourite spots). You can 'board' at 200 metres from our house: https://www.vlinderommetje.nl You can eat well at Narline, in Ten Arlo (4 km by bike), or simply at the Brasserie van Het Busstation in Zuidwolde, where our son is the chef and manager
Tip from the expert
Tasty and cosy food is at 'Op den Deel': a country restaurant in an old farmhouse, two kilometres away. You need to make reservations here in good time, as it is a very popular place
