If you like cities, Trier is an hour's drive away and well worth a day trip. Clervaux in Luxembourg can also be reached in 45 minutes. There are also volcanic lakes in the Eifel where you can swim and several beautiful animal parks. Waxweiler is home to the Eifelzoo, a wildlife park with more than 400 animal species from all over the world. In short, this region is ideal for anyone looking for peace and quiet and has something for everyone.
