Visit the directly adjacent Hanseatic city of Wismar, whose completely preserved medieval town center is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The old harbor is also worth a visit. If you have children, a trip to the zoo is highly recommended. In bad weather, there are various options, such as the indoor swimming paradise Wonnemar, the technical museum phanTECHNIKUM, the indoor playground Mumpitz, and the Cinestar cinema. For a day trip, we recommend visiting the cities of Schwerin or Lübeck. Both cities are known for their beautiful historic architecture. In Lübeck, the brick churches, warehouses, and of course the city's landmark, the Holstentor, are especially worth seeing. The Hanseatic Museum is also always worth a visit.
