Visit the directly neighboring Hanseatic city of Wismar, whose fully preserved medieval town center is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The old harbor is also worth a visit. If you're traveling with children, a trip to the zoo is highly recommended. In case of bad weather, there are various options available, such as the indoor water park Wonnemar, the technical museum phanTECHNIKUM, the indoor playground Mumpitz, and the cinema Cinestar. For a day trip, we recommend visiting the cities of Schwerin or Lübeck. Both cities are known for their beautiful historical architecture. In Lübeck, the brick churches, warehouses, and of course the city's landmark, the Holstentor, are particularly noteworthy. The Hanseatic Museum is always worth a visit as well. Alternatively, take part in a guided tour of the famous and fairy-tale-like Schwerin Castle. Don't forget to visit the castle gardens or the Schwerin Cathedral. If you're with children, you can spend a day at the Schwerin Zoo or at the climbing park
