Visit the directly adjacent Hanseatic town of Wismar, whose completely preserved medieval city center is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The old harbor is also worth a visit. If you're with children, a trip to the zoo is highly recommended. In case of bad weather, there are several options, such as the indoor water park Wonnemar, the technical museum phanTECHNIKUM, the indoor playground Mumpitz, and the Cinestar cinema. For a day trip, we recommend visiting the cities of Schwerin or Lübeck. Both cities are known for their beautiful historical architecture. In Lübeck, the brick churches, warehouses, and of course the city's landmark, the Holstentor, are particularly worthwhile. The Hansemuseum is also always worth a visit. Alternatively, you can take part in a guided tour of the famous and fairy-tale-like Schwerin Castle. Don’t forget to visit the castle gardens or the Schwerin Cathedral.
