A special highlight is a trip to nearby Schwarzenburg Castle. The castle ruins are idyllically situated on a wooded hill and offer a breathtaking view over the Upper Palatinate Forest. Once at the top, a great beer garden awaits you at the Schwarzwihrberg Hütte (note opening times) - perfect for a little refreshment. Combine the excursion with a hike to the "Steinerne Wand", an impressive rock formation that is a great photo opportunity, especially at sunset
