Spacious villa with private pool in Caunes

We had a great stay in Caunes-Minervois. The location is lovely, an easy base for exploring the area, and the pool was the highlight of the trip. Communication with the host was excellent throughout: quick, clear and helpful. A few things worth knowing for future guests. The kitchen is somewhat dated and still functional, but not the strong point of the house. Downstairs there was a persistent damp, musty smell. There is an EV charging point, which we were glad to have, but it charges at only 1.4 kW, so it is a slow trickle charge rather than anything fast. Plan accordingly if you are relying on it. The biggest issue for us was the heat: there is no air conditioning and no fans, and during our stay it was extremely hot. We ended up buying fans ourselves to sleep reasonably well. There are also plenty of mosquitoes, so bring repellent or a plug-in. None of this spoiled the holiday, and with a few fans and some mosquito protection this is a very pleasant place to stay.

We enjoyed our stay and visited Carcassonne several times also ventured to Narbonne and to the beach 😀 The location was typically French. Lovely views and easily accessible to main routes. 😞 As it was September some places were not open or not for long, do your homework I didn’t.
