In the area, there are certainly opportunities for swimming in natural waters. In Saint-Jean-d’Angély, you'll find the Plan d’Eau, a recreational lake on the river Boutonne. Here you can swim in the summer, and there are also activities such as canoeing and pedal boating. Additionally, you can visit the river Charente, for example near Saintes or Cognac, where swimming and recreational activities are available in certain spots. For a more natural and unique experience, the Marais Poitevin is highly recommended. This area is known for its waterways and nature; swimming is limited here, but it is perfect for canoeing and cooling off on the water. Lastly, the beaches along the Atlantic coast, such as those at Châtelaillon-Plage and Saint-Georges-de-Didonne, are about a 45–60 minute drive away and are ideal for swimming in the sea.
