Guest Mobility Ticket and mobility levy in the region of Salzburg

Explore the region of Salzburg with the Guest Mobility Ticket

When you book a holiday home in the region of Salzburg, the Guest Mobility Ticket is included as part of your stay. It gives you unlimited use of public transport across the region, without having to buy separate tickets. A mandatory mobility levy applies to overnight stays in Salzburgerland, and the Guest Mobility Ticket is linked to this levy.

Where can you travel with the ticket?

The Guest Mobility Ticket gives you unlimited travel on public transport throughout the province of Salzburg, from the day you arrive up to and including the day you leave. It means you can leave your car at your holiday home and make the most of the region’s extensive public transport network.

The ticket is valid on:

  • All regional bus services and all local public transport in the city of Salzburg.

  • S-Bahn services and regional trains, including ÖBB and Westbahn services, within the province of Salzburg.

  • Long-distance trains travelling within the province of Salzburg.

  • Official Salzburg Verkehr shuttle services connecting different locations.

Whether you are spending the day in Salzburg, starting a walk from another location or exploring the region without the hassle of finding somewhere to park, you will always have your travel pass with you.

Why does the region offer this ticket?

The province of Salzburg aims to protect the quality of life in the region and reduce pressure on its roads and natural areas. Making public transport more accessible to visitors provides a more sustainable alternative to travelling by car. Together, we can help preserve the Alps while making it easier to travel between villages, lakes and towns.

How much is the mobility levy and how do you pay it?

A mobility levy applies to every guest staying overnight in the region of Salzburg. When you book with Villa for You, the mobility levy is already included in the total price. This means there is nothing extra to pay or arrange when you arrive. Your Guest Mobility Ticket is included too.

When will you receive your Guest Mobility Ticket?

The lead booker will receive the Guest Mobility Tickets with QR codes for the entire travel party by email. You do not need to apply for the tickets yourself. They will be sent once the required guest details have been processed. This may take until the day of arrival, so you will usually not receive the tickets immediately after booking or after submitting your details.

The email will be sent by the local organisation or via the system used to issue the tickets, not by Villa for You. The sender may therefore be unfamiliar to you, so please also check your spam folder.

Practical benefits

The Guest Mobility Ticket offers several practical benefits:

  • No hassle finding parking in busy towns or at popular starting points for walks.

  • No need to buy separate tickets for regional public transport.

  • More flexibility throughout your stay.

  • Good bus and rail connections across the region.

Using your tickets

Once you receive the tickets, you can easily use and save them on your smartphone:

  • Individual tickets: tickets are issued in each guest’s name. Guests with a personal ticket can therefore travel independently from the rest of the group.

  • Saving your tickets: you can save the tickets as PDF files or add them to the wallet on your smartphone.

  • Children: children under the age of 15 do not need their own ticket. They can travel with an adult.

Good to know

To help your journeys go as smoothly as possible, please bear the following in mind:

  • Guest Mobility Ticket and Salzburg Card: the Guest Mobility Ticket covers transport only. The Salzburg Card is purchased separately and includes entry to museums and attractions.

  • Coverage and restrictions: the ticket is not valid on cable cars, ski lifts or tourist steam railways. You will need an additional ticket if you travel beyond the provincial boundary or take a bicycle with you.

  • Journey planning and current information: use guestmobilityticket.at or salzburg.info to plan your journeys and find the latest information about the Guest Mobility Ticket, the mobility levy and conditions.

Registration and ticket delivery

The Guest Mobility Ticket can only be issued once the guest details have been registered and the tourist tax declaration has been completed. Who handles this process varies by holiday home. In some cases, Villa for You submits the declaration. In others, it is handled by the home owner. The information must be complete and submitted on time before the tickets can be issued.

Holiday home owners who complete the declaration themselves and would like more information about the process can contact our Support team. The team’s contact details are available in MyVilla.
