The skiing area of Zell am See - Kaprun
Skiing on a glacier, a lake in your backyard and cosy mountain huts around the corner? Everything comes together in the Zell am See - Kaprun ski resort. This snow-assured and versatile area in the heart of Salzburgerland offers winter sports fun for all levels. From novice skiers to seasoned adventurers. With the Ski ALPIN CARD, you have access to over 400 kilometres of pistes!
Kitzsteinhorn Glacier - skiing at high altitude
On the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, you ski almost year-round on reliable snow. The lifts take you up to an altitude of 3,029 metres, where you will find impressive views of the Hohe Tauern mountains in addition to wide slopes.
Schmittenhöhe - family-friendly and atmospheric
On the side of Zell am See lies the Schmittenhöhe, with its sunny location and panoramic views over the lake. The pistes here are varied and ideal for families. Child-friendly lifts, fun fun runs and a varied range of blue and red pistes make this area both accessible and enjoyable.
Maiskogel - the local favourite
Directly near Kaprun is the Maiskogel, a convenient ski area with wide slopes, a modern lift network and direct connection to the Kitzsteinhorn via the 3K K-onnection. This makes the area especially attractive for families with children, beginners and anyone who enjoys quiet runs. Also nice: you can park easily as well as find good facilities such as ski schools and rentals.
Après-ski, tobogganing and winter hiking
After skiing you can dive straight into a cosy mountain hut or après-ski bar. From traditional Austrian cosiness to modern lounges: here people know how to enjoy themselves. Prefer to stay active? Then try one of the toboggan runs or go snowshoeing through the winter landscape. For cross-country skiers, there are also several trails in the region, including a floodlit trail in Kaprun.
