The rich palette of the Provence-Alpes-Côte
The Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur is a beautiful and versatile region in the south-east of France. It consists of the Alpes de Haute-Provence, Hautes-Alpes, Alpes-Maritimes, Bouches-du-Rhône, Var and Vaucluse departments.
Seen from the south, you start at the most beautiful beaches at the Mediterranean Sea, via the purple lavender fields and picturesque mountain villages you continue north to the French Alps. A mountain world full of green meadows, crystal clear mountain lakes, rugged mountain ridges and the most beautiful hiking trails. An ideal destination for both a summer and winter holiday!
Are you a bit sporty? Then you can use your energy in many different ways here! There are almost as many ski resorts as golf courses. In the north, you will find the popular winter sports resorts such as Isola 2000, Pra Loup and Val d'Allos. In the summer, you will find golf courses such as Golf deTerre Blanche, Golf de Biot, Golf de L'Esterel and Golf de Beauvallon. For cyclists, the Mont Ventoux in Vaucluse is the mountain to climb. And after all these efforts, how wonderful is it to be able to cool down in your private swimming pool while the other travel companions are preparing the evening meal? A meal prepared with the best local products and of course a good glass of Côte du Rhône!
Villa for You offers detached villas with private swimming pools near the most beautiful golf courses, the most varied cycling routes and the finest beaches. Or would you prefer a romantic village house in the most picturesque village of this region? A lovely spot between the vineyards? Or a flat on a cosy holiday park with swimming pool? Because we have that covered too! In this region, the historical cities such as Marseille, Nice, Avignon and Aix-en-Provence are never far away and certainly worth a visit!
Picturesque villages and fashionable seaside resorts
On the coast of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, you will find well-known seaside resorts such as Nice, Cannes, Fréjus, Sainte-Maxime, Saint-Tropez and Cassis. Here, you will also find the most beautiful beaches and bays and many cosy boulevards and terraces. Inland, or in the hinterland of the fashionable seaside resorts, there are picturesque villages with many historical sights. Nature is beautiful here. With lots of greenery, vineyards, crystal-clear bathing lakes and always that wonderful French sunshine. We don't need to tell you anything more about the scents and colours of this area. The azure blue sea, green parasol trees and the sound of crickets immediately give you that wonderful holiday feeling.
The road to the sunny south
Via the Route du Soleil you can reach the Vaucluse after a 1100 km drive. You can explore this beautiful region from your holiday home and visit L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgues, a paradise for brocante lovers, and the Pope's palace in Avignon. If you drive another hour you will arrive in the Bouche-du-Rhône. There, you must admire the light that Vincent van Gogh fell in love with. Visit his city Arles and the village of Saint-Remy-de-Provence. Another two hours' drive and you are in the Var, the greenest department of southern France with the famous seaside resort of Saint-Tropez. Finally, head in the direction of the Alpes-Maritimes with the famous cities such as the perfume city of Grasse, the famous Cannes and the beautiful Nice.
Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur can also be easily reached by plane. You land at the airports of Marseille, Hyères-Toulon or Nice. The train takes you to Avignon, Saint-Raphael, Les Arcs and Nice, among others. And don't forget to bring your bicycle. Follow the routes of the Tour de France and ride in the Alps like a professional!
Bon apétit et santé!
About that glass of Côte du Rhône. The Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region is perhaps less well-known as a wine region than Burgundy and Bordeaux, but the popes must have had some influence. Their famous wine Châteaux-neuf-du Pape really comes from this region! Or what about the delicious, sweet dessert wine Baumes-de-Venise? This comes from the cute village of the same name at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail mountain range. Delicious with a dessert or just with those sweet almond biscuits from Aix-en-Provence called Calissons. The best rosé in the world is also sold in this region! In fact, rosé is always a good match for all Provençal ingredients, which you can of course buy at the market. At the market, get olives, delicious cheeses, rosemary, thyme and tomatoes and prepare a delicious meal in the kitchen or on the barbecue! Have a lovely evening eating and drinking at the side of your private swimming pool at your holiday villa with your loved ones around you. That's what they call living like God in France!
